My work is pretty straight-forward as far as technique and media are
concerned: oil on canvas applied with steel painting knives. These
pieces are often begun in their natural setting as a pochade (French
for "rough sketch") which is later enlarged in the studio. The pochade
is a reference for light effects.
As each generation comes and goes, fewer are able to appreciate and
enjoy nature in it's pristine beauty. My goal as an artist is to bring
awareness to this fact. We need to work together to protect earth's
wild places.
Original Oil On Canvas and Prints
Welcome to my on-line gallery. Here you will find mostly landscapes and seascapes
of places visited as well as local subject matter. Figurative content is occasionally
introduced from time to time. New paintings will be exhibited as they become
finished pieces. Thank you for your interest in my work M.J.
WE'RE MAKING SOME CHANGES TO THIS SITE; THANKS
